It is so heartening to see that all the emirates of UAE are spreading the awareness about environment conservation to the critical segment of society i.e. children.

Tadweer (Centre of Waste Management - Abu Dhabi), is hosting a series of fun activities on environment conservation for children at Abu Dhabi Library Festival that is set to conclude at the end of August.

This Library festival aims to raise awareness on the benefits of reading and adopting a sustainable way of life during the school summer holidays. Festival activities includes sessions on the importance of hygiene and environmental conservation. Simple to adopt practices on reuse and recycling are also being highlighted to encourage the reduction of waste generation.  Through such activities, it is expected to raise awareness on the need to preserve and protect the environment from harmful pollutants, and eventually set the stage for creating a sustainable, clean and safe environment that all can  be proud of.

The significance of waste segregation at source using colour-coded trash cans - green containers for recyclable waste such as paper, tin cans, glass and plastic and black containers for waste that cannot be recycled - are also being communicated to the young audience at the festival.

The Tadweer team is additionally distributing ?Khadra (green) and Soudeh(black)? cartoon CDs to encourage the effective segregation of waste.

Participants are also being given the chance to win prizes during the competitions held throughout the festival.

Tadweer is equally keen to educate parents on the importance of instilling a love for the environment in children and helping them take ownership for maintaining the general cleanliness of the city.
