The state of Hidalgo is multicultural and pluriethnic, originally supported by its indigenous peoples and communities Otomie-Tepehuas, Nahua, nhanhus and Huastecos (Teneks), the Huastecos have had a decrease in their biocultural heritage due to factors like high marginalization, extreme poverty, globalization, marginalization and the destruction of nature as primary factors for the loss of biocultural richness

Our work with tunza eco generation and my organization biofutura AC has a objective to rescue and spread the ancestral heritage of use, development and respect for nature and biodiversity as part of the indigenous worldview of the Huasteca culture, and thereby the children and youth of Yahualica become central actors in the work of the conservation of biological and cultural richness of the Huasteca region because currently has serious problems both environmental devastation and loss of their ancestral culture and worldview.

The  Yahualica Municipality presents an index of 33.83% of people in extreme poverty and lack of food, is considered a municipality with high poverty and Indigenous place, also represents one of the areas with the greatest change in land use in the State of Hidalgo, Mexico, which as due to deforestation and thus a loss of biocultural identity and collective memory of the knowledge and use of biodiversity in the area, now, young and children forgot about the animals and plants in this area, forgot about the jaguar god, and the result is destroy without know the relationship with the nature.

For these reasons, changes in society have been dramatic in the Huasteca area every day  there are fewer ethnical musicians as like "the huapangueros", crafts are mostly are of foreign origin (Asian products) healers and midwives are not visit by the people, the use of floristic biodiversity is seriously disappearing and if no actions through youth, identity culural huasteca disappear.

Now the challenge for us is to protect this biodiversity and its relationship to culture, so we are holding workshops in the Huasteca area with the tool kit to tunza eco generation and thus safeguard the biocultural heritage including the animals as like the jaguar
