by | 20-07-2014 09:21

On July 10 we had an awareness program and survey at Stephen International School situated at Kathmandu, based on waste management. We had the students of Class 6, 7 and 8 participating in our program as other senior students were busy in Teachers day preparation. It was our second awareness program but the first survey on Waste management.

We first wanted to check the awareness level and the waste management initiation of the student and their families at their home. So at first we had Questioners so as to check the status of the students. We total had 18 multiple choice questions and two questions seeking for suggestions and improvements. The students were frank and choose the answers which they thought were right and what they were doing.

The result of the survey is given below:

Are you satisfied by the initiation of local government to manage the waste?

1) Yes-27.8%   2) To some extent-22.2%    3) No-50%

We then went on to aware the students regarding waste management. We shared them some ways to manage the waste which could be practiced at home easily and effectively.

From this program we concluded that there is not much awareness among the students of our country and school Eco-club should be mobilized in an effective manner to manage the waste at school and they could also organize many program around the locality to manage the waste so that the government and higher level bodies would not need to be criticized where the problem could be solved with our small initiations.
