![]() Normally I visit my home country India once in a year with my parents during my summer vacations and try to gather information on various issues/developments in this vast country with more than a billion population... During my recent visit to Kolkata, I have come across numerous occasions of roadside water taps without any proper closing arrangements and due to the same, water is just wasted and goes into the drains for 24 hrs...More than this, I am surprised to see that nobody was paying any attention to this...shows irresponsible behavior for the citizens...so long way to go!!! But, one good thing also has been noticed by me...In many places a new battery operated public transport vehicle (popularly called Tuk Tuk car) has been introduced in place of petrol/Diesel driven auto rickshaws...This type of vehicles are introduced to cover short distance (point to point) in the suburban areas...This initiative will surely a green initiative which needs to be encouraged... Also I have seen a lots of changes when cleaning the city spaces are concerned with Govt and public initiatives...Kolkata city is looking better after introduction of few such initiatives in many places... So, I returned UAE with a mixed bag of filling, but I am hopeful that in future days to come, people will take more responsibility in taking care of their surroundings for a better tomorrow.. ![]() Water wasted @ 24 hrs ... nobody is bothered... ![]() The new Tuk Tuk commercial transport car...(Battery operated)
