alternative energy that Korea mainly uses

by | 01-06-2014 23:16

Even though Korea is a small sized country compare to most countries, it uses its territory very efficiently when its government is trying to get energy that will be transformed into electricity. Therefore, Korea usually relies on the nuclear power plant system the most because this alternative energy system produces more massive amount of energy efficiently than any other alternative energy systems, such as thermoelectric power plant system and hydroelectric power plant system.

To introduce nuclear energy, it is the use of exothermic nuclear processes, to get useful heat and electricity. The term includes nuclear fission, nuclear decay, and nuclear fusion. When nuclear reaction occurs whether fission or fusion, it produces large amount of energy. When fission occurred, not only were two lighter elements and a lot of radiation produced, but also more neutrons. For example, in the fission of uranium 235 nucleus, the amount of energy released is about 60,000,000 times more than as much as when a carbon atom burns.

This powerful, eco-friendly alternative energy has advantages to use. Firstly, it reduces greenhouse gas emissions. Nuclear energy by far has the lowest impact on the environment since it does not releases any gases like carbon dioxide and methane that are largely responsible for greenhouse effect. Secondly, it is powerful and efficient. This is one reason that many countries are putting huge investments in nuclear power. Thirdly, it is easy to transport. Since it is required in small quantities, transportation of fuel is much easier that fossil fuels. Lastly, it incurs low expenses. The cost of uranium which is used as a fuel in generating electricity is quite low.
