Turgo is a village in slope of Merapi volcano in Yogyakarta province, Indonesia. It also a place where I take a research for my thesis about eco-local wisdom. It?s about 5 kilometers from mount peak. This village protected by Turgo and Plawangan hill when eruption occurs.

Most of Turgo villager are Javanese with their traditional culture that still strong. They have customary law about how they should live in harmony with the mountain or nature that around them. Like, prohibition to cut the tree in forbidding forest, preserve fresh water resource through customary ceremonial and prohibition to damage the environment around them.

Other than above, Turgo is one of tourism destination place in Yogyakarta. Mountain weather and gorgeous view with traditional culture are some of interesting here. Also, it offers the visitors to feel some of experience about tea and coffee making process, see jathilan and enjoy laras madyo.

Tea and coffee making process: the visitors are invited to make tea and coffee is traditionally of the process picking up ready to drink . Tea and coffee plantation to be around people's houses . Instant tea products sold at Rp 5,000 , - per pack . As for instant coffee products sold at Rp 5,000 , - up to Rp 25,000 , - per pack.

See jathilan: Jathilan ( Kuda Lumping ) is traditional arts that can be played at any time upon request. Jathilan art itself is a traditional art form of dance using props braid horse accompanied by gamelan music and folk songs . Each staging consists of several rounds , each of which demonstrates the story of the civil war . Usually the dancers entered by spirits so that they are controlled by the dance of the spirits (intrance).

Enjoy laras madyo: Laras Madyo is a traditional art which was originally a Muslim from Surakarta arts whose mission preaching Islam . The art featured songs are packaged in the form of Islamic song Java ( gambuh , Kinanthi , cormorant Gulo , etc. ) accompanied by musical instruments tambourine . Art is displayed in groups where the singer is performing as well as playing music .
