![]() ![]() ![]() TNGM has an area of about 6,410 hectares , covering 5126.10 hectares in the area of Central Java and 1283.90 acres in the Special Region of Yogyakarta ( DIY ) . Before becoming a national park , forest of Mount Merapi in Yogyakarta region consists of protected areas , nature reserves and nature parks ( TWA ) . The detail is 1041.38 hectares of protected forest , Nature Reserve Plawangan Turgo 146.16 acres and 96.45 acres Turgo Plawangan TWA . While the forests of Mount Merapi, located in Central Java , was once the protected forest area of ,126 hectares . As for the oversight and management of TNGM conducted by the National Park of Mount Merapi . This hall stands under the supervision of the Ministry of Forestry Republic of Indonesia . Monitoring and management activities may include monitoring of flora and fauna in TNGM , ecosystem restoration , and enhancement of the role of local communities in sustaining ecosystems in TNGM . In order to enhance the role of local communities in maintaining TNGM as mentioned , the buffer zone is formed . This area can be defined as a region that circles the park boundary . The function of this area is to protect the park from all forms of interference as well as regional areas of social development , economy , and culture of the surrounding community . Establishment of a national park buffer zone based on the results of a field study that covers aspects of geographical , social , economic and cultural . The criteria for the establishment of a buffer zone by Regulation no . 1998 68 paragraph 2 of Article 56 is as follows : 1 . Geographically bordering nature reserves and conservation areas . 2 . Ecologically still have influence from within or outside of nature reserves and conservation areas . 3 . Able to ward off all kinds of interference from both inside and outside the area of nature reserves and conservation areas . In addition , there are several factors considered in determining the type and wider buffer zones namely : 1 . Needs wildlife species are threatened to use additional habitat outside the area boundary . 2 . Purposes buffer zone to perform the function of protection , such as water conservation , forest fire prevention , etc. . 3 . Needs to withstand the wildlife species that may be out of the area . 4 . Needs more reasonable than the locals will land , forest , pasture , etc. . 5 . Area of land available for the use of buffer zones . 6 . Type of land cover in the surrounding area . 7 . Conformity to the type of land plant species buffer zones . |
