![]() In an industry, different form of energy is required. Electricity, coal, gas, other fossil fuels are the main source of the energy used in industries. Transforming fossil fuels in to energy emits large amount of carbon in the environment. The main raw material to produce electricity is fossil fuel in most of the cases. So energy used in industries is directly related to carbon (One ton of carbon is equal to 3.67 tons of carbon dioxide) emission. From the keeling curve we can have a clear idea about carbon di oxide concentration in the global atmosphere. The curve shows that the carbon di oxide concentration in 1960 in global atmosphere was 310 ppm but on May 23, 2014 it was recorded 401.17 ppm. Increase of the greenhouse gas, carbon di oxide in global atmosphere is a threat to the human. If we could not stabilize the concentration, we will face survival issues. Due to the increasing demand for consumer product, the volume of industries are also increasing. It?s high time we worked on stabilizing carbon di oxide in global atmosphere. Alternative energy sources may help this situation get betters. Solar energy tops the list. The use of solar energy in industries may contribute in decreasing carbon di oxide even with low cost. |
