Resource Recirculation in Madagascar

Between magic and luxuriant nature, you will discover the soul of the Malagasy heritage, as beautiful as generous and its protection of the environment through this article.

You have probably already heard of Madagascar, the fourth largest island in the world. Madagascar, with its unique flora and fauna found nowhere else on earth, also contributes to the preservation of valuable natural resources through resource recirculation.

Resource Recirculation, a simple act with complex benefits.

According to a new report from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the volume of plastic waste generated globally is expected to triple by 2060 from its 2019 level of 353 million tons. Yet plastic is dangerous for our environment because plastic pollution contributes to climate change.

Resource Recirculation in Madagascar...

Our country has long been committed to the "three Rs" (reduce, reuse, recycle) with respect to plastics and other resources. We will learn about a company in Madagascar among many others that is contributing to resource circulation, including reuse, recycling, and the use of recycled materials, especially as global action accelerates.

Adonis Group in Madagascar : Do everything to protect the land of our ancestors and that of our children...

The proliferation of waste with infectious risks which is incinerated by hand or thrown in the dustbins directly, pushed them to create this company which today collects with a van to the ADR standards, stores in a building especially conceived for this purpose, then eliminates this waste by incineration with a furnace with auto-combustion equipped with a chamber of postcombustion to the French standards This company works for the treatment and recovery of waste from oil and diesel filters, recycling of batteries, plastics and waste water.

The Adonis Group recycles up to 180 batteries per day. The collected waste, such as soiled rags and cardboard, plastic bags, soiled sawdust will be incinerated via our two high temperature incinerators, for which we have an environmental permit. The plastics are sorted according to their type, washed, dried and ground. They are then returned to the system in the form of particles or flakes. The materials that are too damaged or cannot be recycled are incinerated. ADONIS currently has two wastewater treatment units. A unit of treatment by reverse osmosis of 2 m3 / hour. The second one by aeroflotation of 5 m3/hour.

The means of collection are :
  •  5 road tractors and 5 semi-tankers of 32 000 liters
  • 3 tanker trucks of 12 000 liters
  • 2 workshop vans of 3.5 T
  • 13 transfer pumps with membranes of 30 m3/ h
  • 1 bucket/fork loader
  • 2 trailers for various transport
  • 3 compressors
  • 1 containerized generator of 390 KVA
  • 3 generators of 13, 75 and a 400 KVA containerized
  • 1 dump truck of 17 M3
  • 1 truck with tailgate of 10 T for filter collection and other waste
  • 1 flatbed truck of 30 Tons for collecting polluted soil
  • 1 forklift 3 T
  • 19 T truck equipped for oil spill intervention

We have seen that the country contributes best to the recirculation of resources but why? What are exactly the benefits for the environment ?

Resource Recirculation reduces waste sent to landfills and incinerators. Recycling prevents pollution. In fact, lean air and water are some of our most precious resources. Additionally, mining waste can be significantly reduced by recycling glass and steel materials. By recycling as many products as possible and buying products made from recycled materials, you can help greatly reduce environmental pollution. It also conserves natural resourcesProper recycling helps use already extracted natural resources and protects natural habitats from being destroyed. It conserves energy and even creates jobs, producing economic benefitsAccording to the Carton Council, the recycling industry creates approximately 534,506 jobs in the United States each year, including drivers, sorters, mechanics, materials recovery facility managers and sales representatives. These jobs provide workers with wages totaling nearly $34 billion annually.

While waiting for my next article, I suggest you watch the cartoon Madagascar and don't forget to live a recycling-oriented life. Taking small steps in your daily life to improve your recycling habits can have a significant impact . Just start small as great things almost always start small!
