The Young Vision Science Symposium 2014

by | 03-05-2014 17:56

Science Symposium '14 was an inter-school science competition, conceptualized and initiated by The Young Vision magazine. It was held at the Saudi German Hospital Al Barsha, on the 30th of April, 2014. It was a platform for young innovators to portray their ideas and models. There were around 38 teams from all around the UAE contesting. Two teams from our school participated in the event. Our senior team of 4 girls from grade 11, Aiswarya Jayakumar, Emlin Emmanuel, Nomy Philip and Swathy Sanjay Sindhu, who were the winners in the senior category and also bagged the first ever 'Science Symposium Rolling Trophy'. We worked for about 3-4 months on our project titled 'The Three Tier Technology' referring to the most eco-friendly vehicle of the future. It was nice to see Arushi Madan as the anchor of the event! The judgment was conducted in two rounds.  Round one was judged on the grounds of presentation ad demonstration of the model and explanation of concepts, research and charts, where the judges where free to shoot their questions. The second round was quite unexpected. The editor of The Young Vision, Ms. Namrata K Pathania, announced that 2 members from each team had to go up on stage and explain their model and research in the form of a speech! Aiswarya and Swathy were chosen to speak and Emlin and Nomy controlled the presentation. We had to work hard for that last half an hour to make sure everything synced properly – the speech, the presentation, who would speak and what would be spoken! We were commended for our hard work and confidence by everyone and also told that we were top notch, stood out from the crowd. There was immense hard work, dedication and coordination behind our success.
