Green Housing Model selected from school for FEVICOL Science project Challenge 2013 - Rajashree Our project on Green Housing was selected for the contest by the school:- In our 3 D model for Fevicol Science Project Challenge 2013, we choose the ?green housing ? and we have shown one house with the possible solutions of the green housing can be made. We have tried to make cost effective building with all necessary and possible nature friendly solution. Planned make green affordable housing that: Results in a high-quality, healthy living environment Lowers residents? utility costs Enhances residents? connection to nature Protects the environment by conserving energy, water, materials and other resources Advances the health of local and regional ecosystems Like other comprehensive residential green building programs, the Criteria are divided into categories that address multiple aspects of Green housing development, including: 1. Integrated design 2. Water conservation 3. Energy efficiency and renewal energy. 4. Materials that benefit the environment 5. Healthy living environment for self and others 6. Re-cycling of waste. 67. Others like – local food, cool housing, low maintenance etc.. Starting from the top of the house , we have made – 1. Wind mill:- smaller size wind mill has been installed at roof to generate power when air flow will be available. By this way on one time investment we can get renewal energy. 2. Solar Heater :- has been installed at the roof-top . To fulfill the requirement of hot water, mainly in winter the solar heater will be more effective with out any energy consumption. The same solar panel can be used for storing energy in other times , to charge inverter and store energy. 3. Roof :- The roof in made of proper insulators to avoid quick heating in summer and cooling down in winter, By this way the temperature can be controlled in green building. 4. Solar light :- have been placed on the sides of the wall. To avoid use of electrical energy . Photoelectric sensors attached to lights to switch off / on with the changing of intensity of lights. 5. 6. Solar charging of Car:- To charge the battery of car solar charger has been installed . The solar panels are placed on the roof of the shades of car parking area. The same solar panels can be used for fulfilling demand of energy of the house. 7. Wide windows:- have been made for natural light and air to enter the house. Natural light can be used in day time . In winter solar heat will help to heat the rooms. 8. Mirror at windows panels:- The inner side of the window panels, fitted with mirrors to reflect light. Natural light can be diverted by the mirrors fitted on windows to get required light / maximize lights in room. 9. Keeping of domestic animals :- Cow , goats and other few suitable domestic animals can be kept in house to fulfill demand of milk and meats. 10.Biogas :- The waste of animals and waste of house can be used for preparing bio gas and fulfill requirement of the house The use of biogas for cooking has been shown. 11.Rain-water harvesting system:- has been implemented for storing rain water under ground . This rain water is used for various purposes such as- bathing, cooking, washing clothes, drinking, washing utensils, etc . The used water for the listed above purposes will be re-used for watering plants in the garden and flushing. Shown the section of the under ground tank in the left side of the model. 12.Compost:- bin has been shown behind the house . The kitchen waste can be used for making compost and use in garden. 13. Pond in premises for helping ecosystem:- A pond has been shown where fishes are breeding it also a home to many insects, frogs, fishes and living creatures. The water will go to ground and balance ground water level. Shown the section of the under ground position of the pond in the right side of the model 14.Growing agricultural products and saving fuel:- some food products are grown in the garden. 15.Re-cycling of water of kitchen:- The water used in the sink of kitchen can be stored in tank , without draining out . The water can be re-cycled in flushing at toilet and watering in garden. Shown this in the inside of the model. After opening of the front cover of the building model our concept can be seen. 16.Re-cycling of water of bathroom:- The water used in the bath room / bath tab ( though bath tab we will not prefer ) can be stored in tank at bottom and pump them at top , without draining out . The water can be re-cycled in flushing at toilet and watering in garden. Shown this in the inside of the model. After opening of the front cover of the building model our concept can be seen. 17. Vegetable and fruits creepers / plants the building and boundary wall :- To get the regular fruits / vegetable, necessary and suitable creepers / plants to be planted and allow to grow on the wall of building / wall of the boundaries. These will help to maintain building temperature and fulfill necessary of foods. 18.To protect animals and birds :- provision can be made to keep birds and animal to balance eco system. In the ponds any food will be available for them . 1st. time we have participated for the above contest. |
