On the22nd of April,2014, me, Arushi Madan and a few friends joined hands with a multitude of other people in commemorating  Earth Day by participating in the Beeah Walkathon 2014.

Beeah , which is the Arabic word for environment ,an environmental organization in Sharjah had organized the event.

The walkathon which was held for the third time entailed a scenic walk along the promenade stretching from the Qanat Al Qasba to the Al Majaz Waterfront.

At the start of the event, bags with environmental resources and T-shirts and caps were distributed. The walkathon then commenced on a vibrant note with a joyous sense of purpose in the air.

As we walked along the assigned route, we shouted slogans such as?Save Mother Earth? to express and affirm our support for this cause. 

On reaching the Al Majaz waterfront, there was an award ceremony for winners of collection campaigns for the previous year. I am so glad that Arushi Madan was rewarded for her efforts in collection of cans and for her showcase of eco friendly tables among other environmental organizations.

The experience really helped me see how open people are to make an effort to conserve the environment.

The Beeah Walkathon 2014 was all in all an enriching and exciting experience that left all of those who attended it ready to face the environmental pursuits that lay before them!
