A tragedy that should not be forgotten

by | 18-04-2014 22:07

I would not feel comfortable if I would send a new article or comment to our site without before making a reference to the tragic accident in South Korea, the host of our initiative. The sinking of the ferry, out of Donggeochado island, resulted to, as far as i know, two hundred sixty-eight people, mostly teens, drowned.

Looking for other similar accidents http://www.mapreport.com/subtopics/d/ferry.accident.html#2013, I realize that all reports from wars, natural disasters, accidents, environmental  disasters at the end of the day stay in our memory as numbers. Numbers of how big, how creepy, how catastrophic and finaly how many victims. Afterwards, since we are not directly affected, this is another story lost in the past.
It is wrong. Every person lost is a personal tragedy, most of the times for a lifetime, for his/hers family, his/her close friends and all these people that he/her was beloved. Pls read the messages they interchanged http://www.cbc.ca/news/world/south-korea-ferry-disaster-texts-from-the-doomed-ship-1.2612734 after the accident and before the sinking

I hope the rescue teams to continue working hard to save whoever is possible to be still alive.

I personally give my deep condolences to the people who lost their own children, friends, relatives. Also to you Christy and all the Corean people.
