In the recent days there have been various program going in order to clean and conserve polluted Bagmati river situated at capital of Nepal Kathmandu. The public and private organizations as well as the government are doing excellent job in a bid to keep the river clean and flowing as it was in the past. Public citizens are actively participating in the cleaning program organized by various corporates and it has been able to cross the landmark of 47 editions.

In addition to that a private bank initiated to clean the river with the involvement of the public for some days. All the staffs and the hundreds of public raised their helping hand in order to clean the river. The program was definitely effective one as it did not only cleaned the river but also aware the public to care and clean the Bagmati river.

The government has also done something to clean the river. It has been making embankments alongside the river to prevent the overflow which may occur during rainy seasons and also to maintain regular flow. In this process the dozers and machines are cleaning the river, and making the way for water to flow. The work is going on fine and smoothly as the government plans to finish before the rainy seasons gets on the way.

Local clubs and community are also cleaning the river flowing in their area. Some noticeable act includes making embankment along the riverside and planting trees alongside the river. They discourage the people to deposit waste at river and they charge fine if people are doing so, which later are used in the protection of river.

These small efforts can definitely make a big difference, but conservation of Bagmati only would be possible when the drain pipes are not connected to it and the citizens make a commitment themselves to keep the river clean and pollution free.
