![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() One of the main outcomes of Rio+20 was to encourage nations and policy makers to aid the transition to "green economy" to balance the impacts of uncontrolled development on our environment and natural resources. To drive this forward, a joint initiative by UNEP, ILO, UNIDO and UNITAR was formed to provide comprehensive assistance to countries seeking to develop and implement inclusive green economy strategies. This initiative is termed as the Partnership for Action on Green Economy or PAGE. On 4th and 5th March , the First Global Conference on PAGE ( Partnership for Action on Green Economy ) was hosted by the UAE in Dubai. Mr Achim Steiner , Executive Director of UNEP attended this summit alongwith a host of dignitaries , UN officials , civil society representatives and political leaders . It was hosted by Dr Rashid Ahmad Bin Fahad , UAE's Minister of Environment and Water. I was privileged to be the youngest delegate at this summit and was able to meet and interact with both of them. They were very encouraging about the work I do in engaging the children and youth constituency in the sustainable development process. There were more than 20 ministers and 300 senior delegates representing governments, private sector , civil society and development agencies at this path breaking summit. The discussions revolved on developing an inclusive green economy agenda which would balance all three pillars of sustainability thus contributing effectively to the post-2015 agenda.
