by | 26-03-2014 04:47

University of the Punjab has organized a tree beautifying competition on the occasion of world forestry day, 21st of March, 2014. Representatives of forest department, Government of the Punjab have also visited university and impressed very much by the passion and love of the students with trees. They have also delivered some presentations to emphasize and aware students about the importance of forests and trees as well. By beautifying trees, different aspects and uses of them have been shown artistically on this occasion. Some students made shade sitting area around the tree, some make butterflies to attract insects and birds and many other projects have been displayed on this day. Tress of our university was looking awesome on that day. I have also participated in this competition and make a cartoon character to attract kids. A small house was also made by me and stairs using bamboo sticks showed that we could use these trees for picnic to spend holidays and vacations in forests. In Pakistan people neither like to spend their holidays in the forests nor do they have any huts on the trees, that is why, I have promoted this concept of modern world in my university and in my country. At the end I have got 2nd position. I was very happy and mentioned that it is due to my love with environment and tree. I also mentioned that I have been selected as an ambassador of Tunza Eco generation which is an initiative of United Nations Environment Program and Samsung Engineering and y using this platform I would help to keep the environment more clean.
