by | 19-03-2014 23:36

Volunteer for Bangladesh is the largest volunteer community of Bangladesh. They have ten thousands registered volunteers. Volunteers usually are engaged with many community activities all over the country. Their actions aims for betterment of the nation and individual development. During past years they arranged many vibrant events.

This time they are organizing Great Water Challenge2014: Battle of the District. It is the third time VBD is  hosting Water Day Celebration on coming 21st and 22nd March in Bangladesh. We know that World Water Day 2014 will be celebrated under the theme ?Water and Energy?, within the framework of the United Nations coordinated by UNESCO on behalf of UN Water.

Water and energy are interlinked and interdependent. Utilization of water resources are must in energy generation and transmission, particularly for hydroelectric, nuclear, and thermal energy sources. Conversely, about 8% of the global energy generation is used for pumping, treating and transporting water to various consumers.

The challenge will last for two days and one night, starting from Friday on. Every VBD District will send one participating team trying to win the battle of the districts. During the event the teams will be engaged in numerous challenging games and competitions that will help the volunteers to sensitize to problematic water and energy issues in the slum as well as to build a relationship with community people of the slum. Through this program, ?The Great-Water-Challenge 2014: Battle of the Districts?, the volunteers will gain practical insights into the lives of the slum-dwellers and their daily problems also. Furthermore, they will be given the chance to show off their survival instincts and tenacity for improvising.
