DECREASE THE NUMBER OF PLASTIC BAGS

by | 14-03-2014 01:44

The use of plastic bags in Bandar Lampung has entered the threshold.Excessive consumption of the plastic bags is causing increasing amount of plastic bags, even pollute the beach in Bandar Lampung. The numbers are pretty fantastic, reaching 80 % more than the total garbage.

Lecturer in Environmental Science Faculty of Agriculture, University of Lampung Buchori Hendrie said , in his office , ?garbage plastic bags can contaminate soil , water , sea , and even air . For example, plastic bags disturbing the soil absorbed water lines. Toxins from the plastic particles can also kill animals such as worm decomposers?.

Concerns on plastic bags as those are not one of biological compounds. Difficult degradable plastics have properties (non-biodegradable). "It takes 100 to 500 years to be decomposed (decomposed) perfectly," said Hendrie.

Plastics can also degrade soil fertility, because it prevents air circulation and the movement of underground creatures who are able to fertilize the soil. The increasing use of plastic, it means the faster depleting natural resources.

In tackling plastic waste, some parties try to burn it. However, the process is less than perfect, Hendrie said, ?because it does not reduce the plastic particles?. As a result, there will be dioxin (hazardous and toxic chemicals) in the air.

When humans inhale dioxin would be susceptible to various diseases, including cancer , nervous system disorders , hepatitis , liver swelling , and symptoms of depression . "Plastic bags are the tool most widely used for packaging. People think that it is cheap and practical and too easy to come by. Unfortunately, plastic bags are not always safe, even dangerous to health, "he said.

The easiest step to overcome it is to reuse all plastics, reduce, use, and recycle. Hendrie expects the government, employers , and the Environmental Management Agency ( BPLH ) policy issued to people not wearing plastic in every activity . So it is time to use our reusable bag! ^^ hehe
