THE BENEFITS OF CONSERVATION IN SIERRA LEONE

by | 11-03-2014 23:36

Conservation of tropical rainforests has been a practice that has been quite beneficial to our ecosystem. In as much as it cannot be overemphasized, it has been quite a pivotal and integral part of our development in Africa. From the Sierra Leonean perspective, forest conversation has led to many important aspect of our living here on earth. The relevance examined here are some of the importance of rainforest conservation in Sierra Leone.

Rainforest conservation has helped prevented erosion and flooding in the capital. Freetown is an emerging city with great potentials. Since the ruling party came into governance, it has made road construction a core mandate that will work on. These roads have very little drainage system which cannot suffice for all the running water during the rainy season and our rainforests have been able to gulp most of it thereby preventing erosion and flooding.

Moreover, our tropical rainforests has provided a good habitat for birds and other creeping animals. Most of the species of the world?s renowned birds are found in Sierra Leone and the trees have been a suitable habitat for them to live. It has been observed that when this happens, we enjoy a rich tropical lifestyle in which most of the creeping animals do not have to be catered for in an artificial environment. Therefore, it has been a blessing to Sierra Leone.

Furthermore, it has been observed that our tropical rainforest completes the ecosystem. Unlike some Asian countries that have huge natural disasters, Sierra Leone has quite minimal cases of natural disasters which is a huge contribution of the tropical rainforest. Therefore, we are thankful for the relevant authorities for ensuring that our tropical rainforests are being hugely conserved.
