AQUATIC PURIFICATION A BLESSING OR A CURE

by | 11-03-2014 23:38

Our basic geography has stated that 70% of the world is made up of water. This is a clear reflection of the fact that, water is quite pivotal for our existence. In as much as that case is true, most of the world population cries out for pure and safe drinking water which has led to many companies providing water for our existence. In Sierra Leone, we have about an average of 100 water companies in this country which is a cause for concern as to whether the products sold are really purified.

Therefore, let me start this article by defining what aquatic purification means. This could be described as the use of chemicals and puritans to clean our water and make it safe for personal, industrial and social use.  This is a simplified version of what is expected to be discussed in this article. The points of arguments are as follows:

The over existence of many water companies has led to inaccuracy. This is because some of the water companies produce unsafe water due to market demand. In the rural areas of Sierra Leone, the government has come to the realization that some companies use waters gained from streams to put in containers and sell to people which has led to may water related diseases. This has been a very serious problem for us. Some there has been strict regulations with regards to that.

In addition to that, too much aquatic purification does not promote marine life. Our ecosystem will be affected if these companies do not use precautionary measures.  In one of my articles, I spoke about the existence of sea weeds in the Aberdeen communities and I am quite sure that some company might be responsible for that. So, an advocacy is being mounted up against that.

Finally, it is left with the discretion of the reader to observe whether this issue is accepted or not but one thing is clear that life is a matter of decisions and if we decide to work against aquatic purification, we should examine the pros and cons of our decision.
