Ideas For a Weekend Getaway For the Girls

by Paisley Hansen | 01-01-2023 12:24

You and your friends work hard during the week, especially if you also have a family to take care of at home. As your lives get busier, you may find it harder to schedule the time to spend together in the evenings or on the weekends. That doesn't mean that you should give up on your friend circle, though. If things have been feeling a little distant lately, why not leave the kids with other family members and schedule a weekend getaway for you and the girls?

Go To a Hotel and Spa

One of the easiest ways to pamper yourself is to book a suite at a hotel like the Marriott Odessa and spend the weekend appreciating all of the amenities that the site has to offer. Order room service, get facials and massages at the spa, and go for a dip in the hotel's pool. Many hotels also host bars and restaurants, so you can get a full weekend of fun without ever needing to leave the hotel's property. Of course, between all the fun you'll have with your friends, don't forget to get some well-needed rest and sleep in a bit each morning.

Have a Picnic at the Park

When the weather is nice outside, why not get some rays with your best girlfriends? Have everyone bring a dish and have a picnic potluck at the park (say that five times fast). After you eat, lay in the sun and catch up on each other's lives, read a book together, or even play an old-fashioned game of kickball to get the blood pumping. If you'd like, you can end the day with drinks at your favorite bar.

Spend a Long Weekend on a Caribbean Island

If your group of friends has the extra money to spend, why not go for a short vacation on a Caribbean island? There is a wide variety of hotels and resorts right on the beach, so you can spend days soaking up the sun and evenings dining on delicious Caribbean food and drinks. If you'd like to save money, look for apps that rebook canceled tickets or hotel reservations to see if you can travel for a little cheaper.

Tour Your Own City

Chances are you spend a lot of time in your city but don't know much about what makes it unique for tourists. Are there art museums? Have you tried some of the best restaurants in the area? Are there history tours or other tours of your city? Grab your girlfriends and spend the weekend acting as if you've never been to your city before. You never know, you might discover some new hidden gems that become favorite spots for you and your friends to hang out.

Go Glamping

Who says camping has to be about roughing it? If you and your friends would love to spend more time in nature but aren't fond of sleeping on the cold, hard ground, try glamping instead. Get a tent that's large enough for all of you and drag in some comfortable air mattresses. Add some mood lighting, break out your favorite wine and snacks, and spend the evening telling old-school ghost stories around the campfire. Then, wake up the next morning to go for a leisurely hike before heading back home.

Have an Old-Fashioned Slumber Party

You don't need to spend money to have fun with your friends, especially if one of them will have the house to herself for a weekend. Have an old-fashioned slumber party. Bring sleeping bags, plenty of pillows, and your favorite pajamas. Don't forget the snacks, wine, and the stuff you need to do home pedicures and manicures. Toss in your favorite movies from your high school years, get comfortable in the living room, and spend the night getting reacquainted with one another. If you'd like to get everyone a special gift, buy them all a body lotion that they'll love.

Keeping in touch with your friends is essential for living a full and thriving life. Don't let day-to-day life get in the way of your friendships. Be sure to schedule time together at least once every other month or so to keep up with each other.
