![]() After the Caroline Kennedy's tweet on the Taiji's Dolphin killing, many things have happened. U.K.Ambassador to Japan, Tom Hitchens also tweeted that the UK opposed all forms of dolphin and porpoise drive because they caused terrible suffering. Ono Yoko, and Richard Branson of Virgin Group mentioned the slaughter in the cove damaged the image of Japan. 'The Japan Times', the country's oldest and biggest English news paper condemned the act on its editorial saying, "The dolphin hunt is an inhumane practice that should be stopped." Hollywood powerful celebrities petitioned to President Obama not to sign the Trans Pacific Partnership with Japan until the killing in Taiji stopped. Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, Charlize Theron and Sean Penn were among the actors who signed. And almost two and a half million people signed a petition to stop killing dolphins in Taiji. Then, dolphin killing season ended early compared to the previous years according to the Sea Shepherd. The killing ended last week. Sea Shepherd Cove Guardian campaign said that this year roughly 1400 dolphins were caught in the cove and 834 were killed while 162 dolphins were taken as captives. The number was declined from last year's 900 kills and 250 captives. However, the next season will begin on September 1, 6months from now. The Kennedy tweet evoked international attention and outrage. While the iron is still hot, we should voice out to stop the horrible killing in Taiji. Image: Google Source: Sea Shepherd, web. |
