Sharjah Sustainability award

by Arushi Madan | 03-03-2014 14:41

A dream doesn't become reality by magic it takes a lot of sweat, determination and hard work. The dream that kept us awake for nights multiplied finally turned into reality on the 27th of February 2014 when our school Environment Coordinator  Ms Anjum Hasan won the Sharjah Sustainability Award for the most Outstanding Coordinator Category.

Hard work and patience does lead to success, at least in our case. I remember spending days and nights working with Anjum ma'am to make each bit of our journey a sustainable and valuable memoir!  I remember those sleepless nights when Anjum Ma'am stayed awake in order to make plans and heavy duties for the next day. DPS Sharjah is a large school and to take responsibility of the environment initiative in such a large school with 6000 students is a mammoth task. But like all other duties, this remains a duty completed phenomenally well by ma'am.

All the nominated candidates were called in this award ceremony and the suspense of winner was to be revealed only during the ceremony. We 4 girls , Maryum ,  Afnan Abdul Rahman , Shria and myself Arushi, have been working closely with Anjum Ma'am on various projects and that's why we were very sure that she would win this award. So to cheer her and to feel the first hand winning announcement , we were there at award ceremony. Finally, I remember how each of us jumped out of our seats at the  disclosure of the award winner at the Sharjah Cultural Palace where the Sharjah Sustainability Award – SECOND CYCLE was held on Thursday 27th of February 2014.  It was nice of her to call all 4 of us on stage and share the moment of joy with us .  We were proud to share frame with winner Anjum Ma?am.

Anjum ma'am has always been an ideal leader, a fantastic event head and even better, an ultimate environmentalist! This has resulted in her winning over accolades to herself and the school. She believes in our school's strong motto " service before self" . Congratulations to her and our school.
