Green Stories From Munger

by | 27-02-2014 04:25

18th January,Munger
This beautiful city having small hills all around and a rich flora and fauna strewn all the way to Bhagalpur and beyond did not need a lot as forest cover. But to make the children of the government elementary schools aware of the need for maintenance and even enrichment of the green cover, mass plantation of saplings was organized across 7 schools of the district. The Education Department had agreed to support the activities and the headmasters and members of student cabinet of all these schools namely - Middle School Jalalabad, Middle School Tarapur, Middle School Ramnikabad, Middle School Mahdeba, Gaibi Middle School  Gauripur, Middle School Itwa and Kanya Middle School Dharhara. The students of all these schools took out a procession around the school and the villages and finally converged in the school premises. The elder ones of the society were roped in to lend support to the movement for awareness towards the preservation of the environment.
The Prime Minister of the Child Cabinet initiated planting of the saplings followed by all the teachers and the students. Best part of the campaign was that the girl-children were successful in garnering the support of working mothers of various families of the villages who would otherwise not move out of their homesteads. The students were able to plant thousands of saplings provided by the Education Department with support from Forest Department.
