Environmental activities spearheaded by students may be a common thing for you, but the student body of our school made a breakthrough by conducting the very first Green Revolution, a joint environmental seminar and team-building activity aimed to generate a new set of Eco warriors in our school.

 Two student organizations of Tagum City National High School (Province of Davao del Norte, Philippines) collaborated to bring the Green Revolution to our school: Supreme Student Government (SSG), the highest student governing body, and the Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O), the premiere student organization for environmental wellness.

 The event took place inside our school premise, with various fun activities being participated by around 300 students.

 The event commenced with a ceremonial program. After it, the students danced together in a dance named ?YES Wave,? which enacts environmental actions like throwing garbage in trash bins, planting, watering plants in the tune of Gentleman by PSY, which made it more fun. Games then followed.

The students were distributed into ten groups. The games were geared towards uniting the members in each team, because we believe that alongside environmentalism, unity and cooperation among the students in our school will help generate bigger changes and will continue the momentum of breakthroughs that we have just started.

Among the games were the team banner painting, pot painting, water balloon catapult, sack race with a twist and human kayak. The students enjoyed the whole activity as it was evident in their social networking sites (Facebook and Twitter) and it has been the topic of conversation in their classes, including my class.

It has been a big fulfillment to the organizations that led the activity. We hope we can continue making more activities as fun and as educational as our 1^st Green Revolution.
