![]() The people, the stage and the event itself, everything just happened so quickly. When I first got the news that I would be attending the GYELS 2014 at Korea, I was elated beyond words. The event was itself an epitome of what environmentalists would consider an international and global summit. Whenever I go, I usually learn something. But here in the span of 5 days, I learnt more than I would have ever learnt at any other summit. I learnt about how other countries are fighting to save the environment and how I can do my bit to build a sustainable city for tomorrow. The people on this trip were some of the best people I have ever had with me on any trip. There were people from countries I never knew and heard of. It was great to get to know the cultures, life and various other scenarios of their countries. I loved the lectures that were delivered by very eminent people at the most eminent university in South Korea. Each lecture was filled with some amazing tidbits that I am sure I will carry with me for the rest of my life. The session activities were just relievers after listening to all of those lectures. The PT party was one activity I will cherish for my entire life. I will definitely cherish the experience of speaking infront of 500 packed crowd and then finally coming out with flying colours with the ?Samsung Engineering CEO?s prize? for my presentation on ?My Dream Sustainable City?. But it was the other presentations that gave me a brilliant insight into how other people think about the building a sustainable tomorrow. All in all, I think the GYELS was surely an eye-opener for me and it taught me much more than I could ever learn. Thank you Eco-generation and Korea Green Foundation for giving us such an opportunity to be a part of a bigger world that we did not know about. I always feel that the efforts put by all the members of my own group "Green Brigade" is instrumental in my recognition as delegate to this Global environmental forum. I am grateful to all Green Brigade members for their efforts to make this world a better place...Hope to grow further in future... The trip to Everland park and Samsung office was just fabulous and I felt very bad that due to my exam, I could not go to the last day's excursion trip to Palace...hope to come back to complete the trip to know Korea better. The Korean hospitality is one of the best I have ever experienced and the way the total event is managed without any major hiccups, I am speechless !!! Really salute the silent workers behind the scene which made the event so successful... Thank you Ecogeneration/Samsung and specifically Ms. Christy, Ms. Erika, Ms. Kahng and everyone else who made our visit memorable!! At the end, at airport, I also had some 1st hand experience with Korean culture... My dream trip never comes to an end...only the aspirations grow up further to be a part of such events more and more... I could not recognized Christy on 1st meeting!!!! embarrassed!!!! Not my fault!!! She looks so young than the picture!!! Nice scene at SNU...snowfall happened just 2 days back... 4 winners on stage... Ever energetic Erika and Christy...I really loved your enthusiasm... My final presentation on Global stage...I enjoyed it thoroughly... Receiving "Samsung CEO's award" for My Dream Sustainable city" |
