It was a privilege and an honour for me to be invited as a guest and delegate to this prestigious event . WFES is the world?s leading event dedicated to renewable energies, energy efficiency and clean technologies . It was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces . Since I was an invited guest , I had the wonderful opportunity of being seated within the restricted area reserved for VIPs during the opening ceremony. It was indeed a wonderful moment , when during the opening ceremony , I was able to meet His Highness Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan - UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs. I spoke to him about my work on sustainability and I was tremendously motivated when he commended and encouraged me to continue my efforts to "inspire" children and youth. Later , I also met HE Mr John W. Ashe , the current President of the UN General Assembly where I appraised him about my work. I reached out to civil society through my interview on the City7 TV channel which was covering the event and they telecast this to the nation on 25th Jan as a part of their report on this event.

(I come on after 3.27minutes.)
I attended several workshops on alternate energy , resource efficiency and interacted with officials at the UNEP stall . Fossil fuels are amongst the biggest contributors to the carbon footprint of our planet and events such as the WFES are helping to raise awareness about the need to move away to more sustainable energy sources. I have been attending this summit since 2012. |
