![]() EPI(Environmental Performance Index) is published by Yale and Columbia University each year to show a global ranking of national-level environmental performance, especially weighing two aspects:Protection of human health from environmental harm and protection of ecosystems. This year's index was announced at World Economic Forum Annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland last Saturday. Korea was ranked 43 among 178 countries, the same as last year. Korea tops the ranks in Air Quality and Water Sanitation. Also did well(18th) in Water Resources. However, still in the area of Climate & Energy(112th) and Agriculture(152th) need a lot of work. One alarming area is regarding Fine Dust Index. China ranked 176 and Korea ranked 172. Considering recent warnings over Fine Dust in Korea, Korean government should pay great attention to the EPI and come up with solutions to improve the concerns. United States of America ranked 33 in overall evaluation. Source: Korea Ministry of Environment, KyoungHyang Daily, etc. Image: Google image |
