Explore Sharjah on an eco friendly bike

by Arushi Madan | 26-01-2014 02:23

Dear Tunza friends,

I am delighted to share with you that my emirate Sharjah (I live in Sharjah) has recently launched a ?Rent a bike? service. It is a 24-hour service and allows Sharjah residents to rent a bicycle from any of the four Byky stations across the city. The objective of this service is to give residents the chance to tour Sharjah on a bike which is such  a healthy , environment friendly and fun mode of transportation.

The four official bicycle terminals in Sharjah are located at Khalid Lakes, Mamzar, Al Majaz and Buhairah Corniche. Process is very simple .

AdTech AdTo rent a bike, residents must first register by signing up online at bykystations.com or by calling the hotline number 800 3330 and providing their personal details such as name, address, mobile number, and credit card information. Once registered as a member, you can rent a bike by simply entering your phone number, member PIN code and the number of the bike you want to ride. You will then receive an SMS with a code to open the combination lock of that specific bike. You also have the option of registering at the terminal and using their credit card as a payment method. You can rent up to four bicycles at the same time on one account.

Bicycles can be rented out for the duration of half an hour up to 24 hours . 30 minutes service would cost Dh 15(USD 4) , 1 hour costs Dh 20(USD 5.4). Max is 80Dh (USD 22) for 24 hours

There would be penalties/fine for not returning the bicycle at an official station or for not locking the bicycle or for losing it.

I am looking forward to trying it myself very soon.
