![]() Green developments, green thinking etc. are highly shouted issues in the present world. When I walk outside my hostel, I see many posters and hoarding board with contents like ?Go Green, Think green, Do Green and Finally Be Green?. We all know the meaning of green is ?Sustainable or Environment Friendly? in this context. However, many people don?t know where is the origin of that word Green? Where did it come from? Actually, many people don?t have clear idea about the origin of the terminology GREEN but are using this term even more. The word GREEN came from the green color of foliage of trees. We all know, Chloropyll present in leaves of vegetation strongly absorbs radiation in the red and blue wavelengths but reflects green wavelengths. Due to the reflection of green portion of spectrum, vegetation appears to be green. The red and blue wavelengths of spectrum are absorbed to drive the metabolic process within the trees. Finally, this energy assists to convert water and Carbon dioxide into Carbohydrate. Chlorophyll is Magnesium based and its structure is analogous to Hemoglobin of animals which is Iron based. The leaves of vegetation appears greenest to us in summer when chlorophyll contents is at its maximum. A tree is everything because it gives us life by providing oxygen. Therefore, we want a green world, the world where we people and our woody friends (trees) can exist with perfect harmony. We want a green world.
