 I already mentioned that the main cause of air pollution is caused by construction works (basically roads construction). Construction works produces huge amount of mud powders which makes the area worst. So what can we do to reduce the problem?? Applying water on the surface can minimize flying mud powder. Gravel can be used for paving the unpaved roads also can minimized dust. Construction produce dust generally. Reducing traffic in the construction area can minimize the damage of human health. The second major cause for air pollution in Dhaka is unfit cars. Cars burn minerals which contains large amount of sulfur content. There are rules that ten years old cars cant be used in metro area. But corrupted officials allows old vehicles on the street. Govt can take necessary step to remove old cars. Modern closed waste management system should be adopted. Its a matter of sorrow that city corporation is still using old technologies to manage municipal waste. There are no any organization who recycle the municipal waste. City corporation burns the waste which increases air pollution. Private sector can help managing waste. Now a days waste management becomes business industry in different countries. Rules for monitoring toxic industrial emissions should be strictly adhered. Very few industries use modern method to handle industrial hazard and toxic industrial waste. Tree plantation can save air instantly. Planting trees and preserving can minimize air pollution. Public awareness is must for overall development. I think govt and non govt organization will take necessary steps to control air pollution in Dhaka city. |
