How hazardous are the chemical fertilizers and pesticides

by | 31-12-2013 00:54

We are taught in medicine that any drug if constantly taken for a long period of time is resistance for that particular disease. I thought about this statement I heard from my teacher and reasoned it with the indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in the lands today.

Either to increase the efficiency or to combat a disease we are given certain medicines. If the same medicine is continued for a prolonged period of time it starts to lose its efficiency or the particular micro-organism causing the disease turns to be resistant to that medicine. In the same way if we put land as our body and chemical fertilizers and pesticides as medicines, the rule follows true in the sense the efficiency of the chemicals decrease over time.
barren

The best example can be cited from China where 2% of the previously fertile land has turned barren and hence nothing can be produced in that land as a result of the indiscriminate use of chemicals as well as the industrial chemicals dumping.

So, everyone must be wise while using chemicals.
