Green Trip to Oman

by Rohan Kapur | 31-12-2013 04:45

Dear Eco-Generation Friends,

Hi! Hope you all are doing well. I wanted to tell all of you about a magnificent experience that I encountered in the past few days.

Recently, I went on a green trip to the sultanate of Oman on the 28th December 2013. The fact that my Grandparents are on a short visit to the UAE was like an icing on the cake. I feel that Oman is a very calm, quiet and a peaceful place to live and tour in. It is the epicenter of good culture, scenic beauty and environmental acridities. First, I went by road to the Khorfakkan Check Post border which is in Sharjah and then proceeded to Musandum in Oman.

I and my family were mesmerized by the scenic beauty and the tall mountains, calm and composed sea and the playful dolphins that came to the surface once in a while. We proceeded to the al Mina harbor to board a dhow for a cruise which was the main reason why we had come there. I took care and told my grandparents too not to litter in the sea so as to maintain the authenticity and the beauty of the marine life present there. We passed through the mountains as we sailed in the Arabian Sea and then we halted for some fun activities.

The highlight of the trip for me was the activity called snorkeling. This is very similar to scuba diving but the serenity of the Arabian Sea made it all the better to go into the depths using a goggles and a breathing pipe. On my adventurous voyage, I saw many mystifying marine animals that looked ever so pretty. I saw a green sea turtle, slowly wading at the ocean surface and many other fish on or near the sea bed and on the surface. I had to wear a life jacket even though I knew swimming for safety purposes.  The crystal clear waters of Oman and the corals and seaweeds made my adventure worthwhile.

Another activity which I really like was the Banana Boat riding which gave me a chance to take a better look at the enthralling natural scene which was looking ever so photogenic. In a nutshell, it was time well spent and I enjoyed whilst exploring and caring for the environment. Some pictures of my enjoyable adventure are attached below.

Kind Regards,
