In many places of Chitwan, Nepal, I have observed the mismanagement of drainage system. Moreover, the mismanagement is due to the open drainage system. This problem has been seen decades ago in Nepal but the relevant authorities donot give a damn to it. Due to open drainage system, there is certainly air pollution and water pollution and on the other hand, there is chance of spreading of diseases like cholera, dysentry, malaria, diarrhoea etc. Some houses throw wastes directly on the drainage whether it is biodegradable or not. This is creating a hazardous environment. People donot have a proper disposal system as well which makes the problem even more pronounced. |
