Monsanto seeds are hybrid seeds which are banned in many other countries but then, one of the business firm introduced it in Nepal. These monsanto seeds are regarded as dangerous because of its artificiality. If Monsanto seeds replaces the local seeds and germplasm then, there will be risk of losing the independency by the farmers and increasing the dependency on others as these seeds can't be reused for cultivation. On the other hand, researches say that there is danger in health conditions as well. Many people and organizations are now voting against monsanto and some are even protesting through structured programs. I think if there is harm in people and the environment, monsanto seeds should be banned and every other potentially risky materials to be imported. |
