On the behalf of Tunza Ecogeneration (www.tunza.eco-generation.corg), I organized a program, ?Artistic Junk Art and Fun Green Quiz contest? on the date of 21 December, 2013 in Institute of Agriculture and Animal science/ Rampur campus, Chitwan, Nepal. The program Artistic Junk Art and Fun Green Quiz was organized with assistance of my colleagues Mr. Kritesh Poudel, Mr. Chandan Shilpakar, Mr. Pratik Kunwar, Mr. Sujit Poudel and Sarvodaya English Boarding school, Saradanagar, Chitwan. The main objective of the program was certainly to draw the attention towards the responsibilities to the environment and to build up examples that best can be created from wastes Summary of the program What is Artistic Junk Art? People were asking me ten days ago when the call for Art went out. I mentioned the process and examples of changing waste materials like paper, plastic etc to usable and decorative items. On the day of the program, the arts students presented made a great surprise as they were more than one could imagine from wastes and not to mention about the low cost and minimum time. Total of 55 students from IAAS and Sarvodaya School participated in the program among which 25 were the artists of the Junk Art whereas both the artists and other participants participated in the Fun Green Quiz Contest. Artistic Junk Art Total of 14 arts from 25 students were exhibited in the program. The arts included multipurpose dustbin, paper factory, landscapes, boats, dolls, houses etc. The use of the waste papers, newspaper, tin, plastic etc was incredible. The unusable and wastes were perfectly molded into beautiful items. And each of the art contained themes. The winners of the Artistic Junk Art are Mr. Bhavishya Dumjan Tamang and Mr. Sunil Chhetri from Sarvodaya English Boarding School whereas IAAS students Miss Sunayna Rokaya, Miss Anjali Shrestha, and Miss Kiran Bishwokarma bagged the second prize. The first prize winners had made a paper factory which themed the model of a recycle factory which manages the recycling of papers and other wastes. On the other hand, the second prize winning art was a wonderland full of reduce, reuse and recycle. They mentioned it was the wonderland of greenery and sustainability. Similarly, Sanjay Poudel of Sarvodaya Boarding school for his boat made of love and care and IAAS students for their beautiful landscape were honored for their beautiful concept and the output. Green Quiz Green quiz was aimed at providing knowledge in an entertaining manner. Questions related to climate change, biodiversity, current environmental affairs, biology, etc were asked among mass and correct answers were rewarded. Conclusion Both of the programs, Green Quiz and Artistic Junk Art were conducted with success. Students commented on the effectiveness of the programs related to environment. The enthusiasm shown by the participants was a matter of satisfaction to me and all the helping hands. However, I wish to see the same enthusiasm and passion in everyone for conserving what we have. If even one will carry on the passion of conservation, I will note this program as a success. |
