![]() I know the Green Video Clips contest is over, but saw this video that I want to share. It is called Landfill Harmony and talks about how they create recycled musical instruments in Cateura, Paraguay. This happens in a slum area built on top of a landfill. We have slums built on top of landfills here in the Philippines too. The most famous is called Payatas. The families make a living by getting recyclables out of the garbage dump and selling them to junk shops. Some make handicrafts from what they unearth from the garbage. People who live there make the most of what they can pick from the trash. Now that it is almost Christmas, I think of people who live in the slum areas and those who were victims of the super typhoons and storm surges. I think of how they manage to make a life even with all those difficulties. |
