On 15 December global hand washing day was celebrated here in Nepal at Kathmandu city. Ministry of Health and Population, Cricket Association of Nepal, Lifebuoy and UNICEF collaborate to organize a special function in mark the Global Hand washing Day. Lifebuoy a local soap company as always awared the people about hand washing and its importance in driving away different epidemics like diarrhea, cholera etc. Social Media as well as some of the local channels were involved in awaring the locals about its importance. Number of posters were distributed in order to aware the public about important steps to be taken while cleaning our hands.As only 37 per cent of people in Nepal wash their hands with water at critical times and just 12 per cent use soap, this program aimed to increase the percentage of hand washers and eradicate epidemics. Participation of Private Company was also encouraging. This year, the program was organized at the Engineering Campus Ground in Pulchowk. The major highlights of this program were disabled-friendly hand washing facility, cultural programs and games organized by children and a friendly cricket match between celebrities, corporate houses, CAN and development partners. Also various rallies were carried out in different part of the capital. Special attention was given to aware the mothers to wash their hand before feeding their babies. This program was a huge success and many people were benefited from it.basic step of sanitation,washing hands is of utmost important and i personally would like to urge the Nepal government and other associates to carry out this sort of program in the rural areas where sanitation in of poor quality. |
