![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() On 26 November 2013, NYG (Nepali Youth at Guthi) in collaboration with IRHA and supported by Tunza eco-generation organized a speech and poster competition at Prabhat Higher Secondary School, Gwarko Lalitpur in the topic "Role of students in School Environment Management." for speech competition and ?My School Prabhat Environment? for poster competition program that included participants from grade 7, 8 and 9.The motive of program was students perception on their school environment and to make students and school staffs sensitize about the blue school concept and its necessity. The objective blue school is of developing school as an ideal place to make student sensitive to human civilization and environmental values by providing adequate water and sanitation within school along with improving health and dignity of children. Firstly the program started with the chairing of the Vice- Principle - Sahana Jonche as Chairperson, Executive Director of IRHA - Vessala Monta as Chief Guest, Babukaji Maharjan (Coordinate), Anil Sthapit, Prakash Amatya (Guthi) and the Judges Diwakar Acharya, Purushotam Adhikari and Anju Acharya from the school management for the competition. 8 participants from the class 7 ,8 and 9 participated in the speech competition while 8 posters were in competition. In the same time the poster prepared by the students were displayed for all outside the hall for the students. The speech given by the students were very impressive. Puja Dulal (Participant) In her speech focused on the Solid waste management and its negative consequences, importance of plantation. She also quoted that ?To improve the environmental condition of the school and community all the students and the teachers along with the community people had to come together and work together to protect the environment.? In the same manner students also tried to explain the same concept through their posters. After Speech and poster observation the winners result were announced. Vessela Monta distributed the prizes to the winners of speech competition, 1st Puja Dulal (Grade 9) 1st, 2 nd Rabindra Dewar Danuwar (Grade 9) and 3rd Dipak Das (Grade7) while In the poster competition, Rima Kumari Das (Grade9) got the 1st prize, Om Raut (Grade8) and Dipak Das (Grade7) got 2nd and 3rd prize respectively were distributed by Rajendra Prasad Timsina (Principal). Later, Vessela Monta Highlighting on the Blue school concept and its objectives and informed that Blue school program has already been successfully implemented in 55 schools all over the world. "Blue is the color of water, the color of flag of UN is also blue and it also symbolize peace, so the program name is given Blue School" she explained about the naming of the project Furthermore she discussed on activities related with the blue school project. ?Plantation is another task in Blue school because plantation not only promotes the greenery but it also absorbs the water and recharge the ground water,"she said. She also explained about the necessacity of Volleyball in the school. She said" Volleyball is a team sport that can be played by both girls and boys that train children to respect the gender equality. Prakash Amatya further explained on the Blue school and the need of cooperation and support from school side to make it a success. Then,I as the Regional ambassador of Tunza, I gave brief introduction about Tunza Eco generation to the Students and motivated them to adapt responsible environmental behavior within them self for better environment. After that I handed the promotional tunza information Boucher and CD and Eco-bag to the principal. At last the program ended with speech of Chairperson, Sahana Jonche. She thanked all the participants and the organizers and Tunza Eco generation for making the program a success and hoping to see the same enthusiasm in the upcoming days. |
