A visit to historic-religious place Manakamana

by | 17-12-2013 17:52

We friends decided to take a tour to the Manakamana temple, sacred place for the Hindus and equally popular as a tourist destination. The word Manakamana stands for "Heart-wish". So, it is believed that any devotee who makes a wish from their heart is blesses by the Goddess Bhagwati (female god). And for our group it was more a tour rather than a religious march.

Temple

We made a ride of cable car to the temple which took about 15 minutes whilst the feelings were amazing. The breathless vertical climb over the hills, the roaring river down the cable and the majestic view of the mountains, it takes away all the worries of life and just takes one to this world of excitement.

The most impressive part I felt in the whole route was the waste management. Thousands of people visited the temple through the same way even then the nature was almost set to its best. The dust bins with words in bold "USE ME"and the boards hung with the message "Do not litter".......... seemed to carry a meaning to the people. Apart from this there was a team dispatched to collect the plastic bags and other litters who would wave out all the wastes on the route and collect them in proper bins.

Dust bins

Anyone who loves adventure, wants to see nature at its best and be close to the nature, one must make a trip to Manakamana temple. I enjoyed a lot.
