Used cloth collection drive for re-use - By Green Brigade

by | 15-12-2013 00:42

As a volunteer to the Green movement for saving the earth, we in ?Green Brigade? always feel that we need to do whatever we can do in our daily lives. One best way is to re-use the materials which are normally discarded by people. Often we don?t understand how these can be re-used?.

In UAE, with the good living conditions and economic status of the people, lots of clothes are thrown away and this is pathetic for the kids garments as many of them are almost new and become redundant to the household as the kids become taller and these become un-usable!!! At the same time, we could see photos of many poor children in India and other countries where they struggle to wear a decent cloth.

So, when Mr. Venkat (The Pencilman of UAE) requested Green Brigade to arrange for a cloth collection drive for the poor children in India, we grabbed the opportunity and arranged for the same. We told all the members to spread the news of the cloth collection drive in their friend?s circle and after one week, we gather in one of the house to separate them age wise and gender wise. We also separated the unusable clothes.

At the end we collected more than 1500 nos of clothes for various age group and send them to Mumbai Rotary club and a charity organization in Kolkata to deliver the same to the poor and needy people.
