(Note This article was written on 28th November 2013 but due to some error I wasn't able to post it here then)

World Expo 2020, an international event that builds ties, amazes the world and connects people together. This year at the BIE (organization that is the governing body of world expos) , the 168 member countries voted to select the host city for the much awaited 2020 World Expo.

The countries in the race were UAE, Russia, Brazil and Turkey. The day began with presentations by each of the candidates specifying why they should win. Dubai?s bid was presented by H.E. Reem Al Hashimy.

I was staying back at UAE following the bid live through social media and live coverage from Paris. The whole of UAE and gulf, etc were glued to their smart phones and computers, etc eagerly waiting the winner.

Some details regarding the voting procedure for you:

1) If any country gets 2/3rd of the whole votes in the first round, they are declared the winners immediately

2) If not, there are 3 rounds in which the city with lowest votes get eliminated in each round

Voting started at approximately 5:30 UAE time. Sao Paulo was eliminated in the first round and Izmir was eliminated in the second round. Dubai had taken the lead in the first and second rounds.

Ekaterinburg and Dubai were the final contenders in the last round!!!!

After the voting, the whole of UAE were in silent prayers, hoping for a result that will bring joy to the nation.
The screens turned on to show the winning city. 3?.2?..1?.
DUBAI WINS THE WORLD EXPO 2020 BID!!!!

Screams of joy and pride rose through the conference room in Paris. While back in UAE, the nation rejoiced! J
Rulers shared congratulatory messages and an amazing firework show at Burj Khalifa (The tallest tower in the world) enthralled everybody. To add to the joy, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the vice president and prime minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai has announced a holiday on 28th November 2013 for all educational institutions to celebrate Expo 2020 victory. Not only that, baskin robbins is giving free ice creams to everybody from 1-3 pm for celebrating this victory.

The nation is rejoicing! So am I! :D
Looking forward to see you all in 2020 at Dubai!
