Give A Laptop and change the world.

It was on the 16th day of November 2013, we embarked on a glamorous journey to the city of Malacca in Malaysia on an act of volunteerism. It was part of our consummate alacrity, contributing to the upliftment of humanity. We attended the OLPC conference. We were approximately 40 students that embarked on the trip and we met other participants from across the world.
In creating educational opportunities for the world's poorest children by providing each child with a rugged, low-cost, low-power, connected laptop with content and software designed for collaborative, joyful, self-empowered learning. When children have access to this type of tool they get engaged in their own education. They learn, share, create, and collaborate. They become connected to each other, to the world and to a brighter future. Hence, OLPC.
OLPC is not, at heart, a technology program, nor is the XO a product in any conventional sense of the word. OLPC is a non-profit organization providing a means to an endan end that sees children in even the most remote regions of the globe being given the opportunity to tap into their own potential, to be exposed to a whole world of ideas, and to contribute to a more productive and saner world community.
The laptop does not only deliver the world to children, it brings the best practices of children and their teachers to the world. It is a potent learning tool designed and built especially for children in developing countries, living in some of the most remote environments. It's about the size of a small textbook. It has built-in wireless and a unique screen that is readable under direct sunlight for children who go to school outdoors. It's extremely durable, brilliantly functional, energy-efficient, and fun. Each school represents a learning hub, a node in a globally shared resource for learning. One Laptop per Child is not about a machine, it's about a movement and we'd love you to be a part of it. The first and most important way you can join in is to donate one or more laptops.
