![]() The same time that the Conference of Parties to the Kyoto Protocal (COP19) was opening in Warsaw was the same time that news was coming in about the devastation in the Philippines because of the Super Typhoon Haiyan. Thousands are dead and mass graves have to be dug to bury them unidentified. Local governments and police force cannot function because they are also all victims. The national government cannot reach the victims because roads are blocked by trees and utility poles that fell with the strong winds and water surge. Buildings and houses are flattened so no place to stay. International aid is coming by planeloads but it still can't reach the people. At the COP19, the Philippines head of the delegation is Mr. Naderev Sano who is Commissioner of the Climate Change Commission. He is challenging the other countries to decide quickly for the good of the planet. He even said he will go on fasting until "something good is in sight". He is saying that the super typhoon is a sure sign of climate change and global warming. The Philippines is in hard times now. The world must listen to what Mother Nature is saying with the super typhoons that are increasing in intensity.
