This was category was introduced by NIF last year to recognize those ideas, which prima facie may not appear to be rational today but may become a reality tomorrow as science and  technology advance. Back ground information behind our idea:-

During travelling , in many occasions we  drank  water from packed plastic bottle, but faced  problem to destroy the bottle  after consumption of the water  to avoid reuse. We had seen that,  poor boys were collecting  used bottles thrown  on train /bus by other passengers.  We had tried to scratch  / puncher  our used bottle  and make them non-usable and found the plastic bottles are difficult to puncher without knife  /pin / sharp edge.

At the same time for opening a canned cold drinks,  one small ring type lug was provided ,  which was an integrated part with the cap of the cylindrical can. My partner,    . Rajashree  was suggesting few alternative ideas for puncturing during travelling by putting one pin at bottom /one piece of blade or make one small  area thinner at the bottom. Supply  of  one  pin / blade may create other   problem.

After lot of brain storming ,  we came to a conclusion that,  one lug can be extended at the bottom of each bottle as an integrated part of the plastic bottle.  After  consumption of the water, the lug can be pulled and  the area beside lug can be  punctured of the bottle .  The reuse of plastic bottle can be avoided. The health problem due to multiple use of plastic bottle can be reduced.  The selling of  dirty water / dirty bottle can be avoided. By seeing  the small lug at bottle ,  Passenger will be able  to puncture  the used bottle and realize to  avoid multiple use of the bottle. A small note can be printed like ? Use lug to puncture this bottle  ?

I  am  very happy  to get the scope  for 2nd. time  to get   blessing from Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam and Prof. Anil Gupta.   Both  are very simple, inspiring and motivating scholars of India.  We are expecting lot of  learning and fun from the interaction with  a large number student-innovators coming  from all over India,   hard working officers of NIF and  from Prof. Gupta.  Just waiting for 19th. Nov?13.
