Rooftop farming training and conference in Kathmandu

Realizing the unavailability of farming and vegetables gardens in the overpopulated Kathmandu city the local governmental body has launched a program which helps to promote and flourish the rooftop farming. The office officials as well as other expert are training different household members, mostly women to share the proper technique of it. It has planned to train altogether 500 household for this current fiscal year. They are selecting representative from each area and are given training and expecting that that trainer will be sharing their experiences and expertise to other locality members.


The budget for this program is $20,000. Also the donors are providing them extra $ 30,000. They are planning to spend half amount on training and capacity building activities and half on the distribution of the compost bin.


The conference which will last for four day will start on December 9 and end at December 13. The program is likely to address the problem of scarcity of farming land and the expensive vegetables and fruits as well.
