Lots Saved- Prayers and Hope for those who suffered Loss by Simran Vedvyas

The purpose of a Pre-Disaster Preparedness & Mitigation Operation is to work on an integrated & coordinated strategy to minimize the loss & damage to human life. Such Pre-Disaster Preparedness & Mitigation plan & its operational implementation has been a tough practical orientation in India for so long

Though 12 million to be affected More than half a million people spent the night in shelters, Cyclone Phailin powered its way inland over eastern India on Sunday leaving a swathe of destruction but the loss of life appeared limited after more than half a million people sought safety in storm shelters.

Phailin was the strongest storm to hit India in 14 years. Torn branches littered a road running past destroyed huts and twisted electricity poles along a large stretch of the east coast. The cyclone was one of three major storms over Asia on Sunday. The smaller Typhoon Nari was approaching Vietnam and Typhoon Wipha loomed over the Pacific.

From Reliable Sources: "This is the reason why we had done the biggest evacuation operation of around over 1000000 people within a stipulated time frame of 6-8 hrs.  Such preparedness before an occurrence of probable severe disaster has so far been incredible. Such mass evacuation & bringing them to the rescue camp has been one of the challenging exercise. Integrated & coordinated efforts of IMD, NDRF, NDMA, SDMA, Para-Military Forces, NGOs & Local Bodies operated incredibly.  It was all a path-breaking exercise & its still been going on till the affected civilians won't reach back their homes.  Such a mass level life saving rigorous exercise would have been a paradigm shift in our Pre-Disaster Preparedness & Mitigation Strategy because such exercise is an impossible task as far as our civic response to Natural Disaster is concerned. Our Integrated mechanism did not only manage the rumours but prevented disinformation to be disseminated widely.  IMD dismissed all speculations of super-cyclone & coordinated to our various agencies that worked remarkably well to check the life causalities.  We have witnessed a successful operation as per the prospective & objective of a Pre-Disaster Preparedness & Mitigation Operation is concerned. Now Its time to assess the loss & damage to the economy of the marine & coastal ecosystem & its Biodiversity.  It will be miles a head to minimise the damage to our coastal ecosystem"
