At the end of most conferences, outstanding delegates in each committee arerecognized and given an award certificate.Thousands of college students across thecountry and around the world participate inModel United Nations, which involvessubstantial researching, public speaking, debating, and writing skills, as well as criticalthinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities.Model United Nations is an authenticsimulation of the U.N. General Assembly,U.N. Security Council, or other multilateralbody, which catapults students into the worldof diplomacy and negotiation. In Model U.N.,students step into the shoes of ambassadorsof U.N. member states, from Afghanistan toZimbabwe to debate current issues on theOrganization?s vast agenda. The students, better known as ?delegates? in Model U..,prepare draft resolutions, plot strategy, negotiate with supporters and adversaries, resolve conflicts, and navigate the U.N.?srules of procedure-all in the interest ofmobilizing ?international cooperation? toresolve problems that affect almost everycountry on Earth.Model U.N.learn how the internationalcommunity acts on its concerns about addressing Africa's Energy challenges. Energy has been described as the missing Millenium Goal, the catalyst without which other goals on issues such as health, education, and gender equality can not be acheived. Most Countries in Africa lack the infrastrature to reliabity meet the electricity demands of both its economy and its population.
