![]() Technical consultant on energy who enlightened the majority of the youth on the fact that the energy economy in Tanzania is large , centered however its somehow hidden and its been heard to be smaller and decentralized when looking at the downstream of the energy system particularly in Tanzania , he instigated that youth together can enable each other to realize their importance in the energy sector where by the Institutions in Tanzania should focus more in the energy reservoirs and the fact that most energy reservoirs are not utilized.Mr. Jacob Mogendi The National Program officer at Youth of United Nations Associations Tanzania at 11:30hrs who gave out the overview of the Energy situation in Tanzania sighting from the laws that were enacted by EWURA under article 18 part one which states , Power to obtain information states clearly that where the Authority has reason to believe that a person is capable of supplying information, producing a document or giving evidence that may assist in the performance of any of its functions, a member of the Authority may, by summons signed by the Chairman or Secretary of the Authority served on that person ,Further giving out information that 30% of rural people accepts electricity while the rest 70% still have no access to it. Mr.Steve Thorne elaborating the statisticsMr. Priva Clemence at B.Eng. Geology and MSc Petroleum Economist from the Ministry of Energy and Minerals gave out a presentation on Hydrocarbon value chain (exploration, development , production , supply and consumption) he gave information on crude oil formation as the oil being derived from plants and animal matter that has broken down and being subjected to extremes of temperature and pressure over millions of years , how it was made available, regulatory and institutional framework in Tanzania hierarch starting from the ministry of energy and minerals to the energy department then breaking into two arms which are Tanzania Development petroleum Cooperation which includes International Oil Explorations and Production Companies and service companies while the other arm is Energy and Water Regulatory Authority which includes Oil Marketing Companies and Fuel Trading Companies , the exploration activities showcased that majority of the gas and oil fields are allocated in eastern part of Tanzania along the coastal areas were majority of the petroleum is being used domestically in houses for lighting ,Industries for power generation ,Agriculture to run engines for pumps and Facilitate transport in aero planes, motor vehicles and many other. |
