How can energy storage systems contribute to carbon neutrality [November Thematic Report]

Energy Storage System (ESS) is a game-changing technology which has the ability to store energy for later use. ESS not only addresses solar intermittency but also enhances grid resilience by actively managing mismatches between electricity supply and demand. Carbon neutrality means having a balance between emitting carbon and absorbing carbon from the atmosphere in carbon sinks.

Energy storage systems have generally been hailed as a ¡°green¡± technology, key to enabling more renewable energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions but in actual facts, they actually increases carbon emissions. Energy storage systems can contribute to carbon neutrality by stopping to extract much fossil fuel in the production. 

Also, technology can also be effectively utilized by any means to neutralizing carbon by ESS(energystoragesystems). If technology is deployed strategically, energy storage can make the grid more flexible, unlocking renewable energy, and reducing emissions.

Additionally, to contribute to carbon neutrality using energy storage systems, cheapest, renewable energy should be stored to displace whatever energy that is most expensive (also, with higher greenhouse gas emissions). Policy makers can also increase carbon price to enforce use of renewable energy storage systems. The world does not need any more of carbon gas emissions.
